One of the greatest joys I've experienced as a new mom (and there are many) is watching the love and joy that my own parents experience as they get to know my child and sprout their wings in their new roles as grandparents. My parents are over the moon, and they beam with love and pride as they watch their grandson grow and blossom. Yesterday, I took the baby to spend the gorgeous day with my Dad, his Pop-Pop, in Staten Island. We took the subway AND the ferry, met my Dad and started our visit with a trip to the Staten Island Children's Museum. Thanks to my Dad, we are now officially members! The baby loved the museum offerings - giant-sized games, video consoles, wooden race tracks, blocks, outdoor areas, and lots more that we didn't get to see. His favorite thing was to step in and out of the bowling lane (it has a small ledge around it); he is really into stepping over, stepping up and stepping down. And also into stacking things. Anyway, Pop-Pop was especially excited to push the baby in the stroller, so we took a stroll around the grounds to a fountain. Then we went to Pop-Pop's house, where we ate a delicious lunch. We took an evening stroll around the block, the baby walking in between us and holding both our hands as we swung him every few steps here and there, much to his giggly amusement. And before long it was time to return to the city to meet up with K at work and go on home. I was so happy to be able to spend quality time with my Dad and my son together. The day before, the baby and I spent the entire late afternoon/early evening with my Grandma and were later joined by my Mom - again, great quality family time.

Just finished his first ferry ride
